Creative Reset At bottleworks indy
Have you ever experienced a creative slump as an entrepreneur?
You know, that feeling that nothing you produce is good, you feel like something is out of whack, and you realize you’re just kind of going through the motions.
Alright, maybe this is more like the brink of burnout. And if you tell me you haven’t experienced this, I’d say “LIAR” in the most kind way with the clink of a champagne flute.
Whatever you call it, I’ve been there a few times this year and I needed a creative reset. I needed to get out of my home where I work, eat, sleep, and parent my toddler and step into a space to reignite my fire.
A couple of years before we made our move to Phoenix, the plans for the Bottleworks Hotel on Mass Ave were announced. I remember attending an event at Ironworks, its sister hotel on Indy’s northside, and thinking “this is going to completely elevate the Mass Ave experience downtown Indy.”
And let me tell you, this is exactly what Bottleworks did for this infamous Indy hot spot.
Just as I was feeling this need for a reset, our six year wedding anniversary was approaching. PERFECT TIMING. This was the opportunity I couldn’t pass up to reset my work brain and pour into one of the most important relationships in my life, my marriage, at one of the coolest spots in town.
Let me walk you through the experience of a night at the Bottleworks Hotel.
CHECK IN
When we walk into the lobby, we were greeted with a scent I can only describe as luxurious. It reminds me of the perfumes and colognes that might have been worn in the 1920s, equally lavish and celebratory.
The concierge team greeted us with a warm smile (Hoosier hospitality at its finest) and sent us on our way to our room, past the pool table, the lounge, and the coffeeshop.
THE ROOM
Vibrant, relaxing, luxurious, and eloquent. We stayed in room 2023 on the second floor and the view was unbeatable. I loved how the bed was positioned to look directly out of the huge windows and into the blue skies of an August day in Indy.
The bathroom was HUGE, complete with gold accents and marble tile. Best part: double shower head. Yes we tried it, yes it’s worth it, and yes we want one at home now.
To the right of the bed, there was a desk area perfect for creative bursts in a new space or even for a work-cation if we were there for that. There’s a small sitting area where we enjoyed a glass of wine and clinked glasses to many more years of wedded bliss (or tough moments and choosing love through it all).
The room was spacious and well-laid out, making it easy for us to settle in.
THE EXPERIENCE
The entirety of our experience at Bottleworks was nothing short of tremendous.
A few highlights that really sealed the deal for our getaway:
The location on Mass Ave is conveniently located near restaurants and entertainment. We didn’t make it to duck pin bowling which we plan to do next time, it looked so fun.
Breakfast in bed was delicious. As soon as I saw gluten free oatmeal with peach compote on the menu, I knew we’d be ordering in the morning. Collin enjoyed eggs, bacon, and potatoes which he said was awesome (and that’s meaningful coming from him).
Valet parking was so easy. I am ALL about convenience so this took away the stress of parking my giant 4-Runner (okay feels big to me) downtown somewhere. There are lots near the hotel if you choose not to valet.
Collin and I both commented throughout the weekend about how much fun we had. Truth be told, it’d been a while since we’d taken time to just soak up time with each other without our parent hats on.
This is one of those hotel experiences that is putting Indianapolis on the map for trendy start ups, millennial couples, and young professionals. If you’re in need of a creative reset, Bottleworks Hotel has you covered.
Cheers,
Steph
