Preparing for the rest of 2022 as an Entrepreneur

It’s no secret that the economy is feeling a little shaky right now. 

Gas prices, interest rates, and groceries/bare essentials are rising.

I wanted to have a conversation about preparing for the next 6-12 months as a CEO. We are entering a time of change and growth (if you choose to look at it in that way).

I personally believe that some of the most beautiful and innovative creations come from times like this.

A brief story for you that I hope is grounding and inspiring:

 In 2012, I was sitting with my sorority sisters at Butler University. They encouraged me to start a fashion blog because I was always dressed cutely and on top of the new trends. (I don’t usually share this part of the story because I let that blog die, and I wish I hadn’t). 

Trendy in Indy technically started in 2012. However, I was working multiple jobs and putting myself through college, and it just wasn’t my highest priority. 

In 2016, Trendy in Indy was reborn. 

By 2018 I created a 5-figure influencer business, but personally, I was just not thriving. I knew my impact was much more significant, and I knew that I was playing small. I started re-imaging what life could look like.

In 2019, Trendy in Indy became The Weber Co., and in 2020, it evolved into a 6-figure business.

In 2020, when Covid hit in March and the pandemic happened to all of us globally, my business significantly grew.

My goal that year was to match my current salary with my full-time job. The work environment at that job was just not great.

Instead of giving into fear and scarcity, I looked at my vision and goals and said, “How can I make this a reality this year.” I made a bold decision to go for it and turned it into my reality.

My mind was looking for opportunity. 

That is when I found my first mentor. I did not know that I would have an $85k launch and create a 6-figure company just a few months later. 

As the CEO of our businesses, we have to be highly market-aware. We need to be able to make predictions and pivot and adjust with the market and not stay rooted in the past and how people were buying.

Today, people are skeptical.

 They have been burned and are more aware of where their dollars are going.

This is why having a brand is so crucial, and If you haven’t done that actual work around your brand, the time is now.

Along with the brand work, a fundamental reality right now is that we must ensure we provide ease and security to our community. People are tired. We are drained and exhausted. The simpler it is for them to find you, say yes to you, the better. The more ease and security you bring them, the more they will trust you to do business with you.

Basically, ease and security are crucial as we think about our next six months.

The first thing I have for you is to decide to pursue your vision fiercely, no matter what. This may require you to pivot and to meet your people where they are at.

Earlier this year we were listening to mentors, thinking, “how we can serve our people in a bigger capacity,” and this is how Legendary Brands Society was birthed.
